Associate Professor George A. Papagiannopoulos received his Diploma, MSc and Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras. He has authored 2 chapters in books (in English), 41 papers in refereed international journals and 39 papers in proceedings of international conferences and workshops. He currently serves as Director of the MSc program ‘Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Resistant Structures’ of the Hellenic Open University, teaching the courses ‘Dynamics of Structures’ and ‘Seismic Deisgn of Structures’. He is currently Reviewer for 20 international Journals and he received in 2014 & 2017 the ‘‘Certificate of Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing’’ from Elsevier. He has participated in 5 research programs financed by national and international organizations. His current research interests include earthquake engineering, analysis and design of steel structures, passive control systems and applied mechanics. During academic years 2013-2019 he served as Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras, where he taught the courses ‘Design of Steel Components’ and ‘Design of Steel Structures’. He has supervised 60 Diploma Theses in the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Patras and 39 MSc Theses in the postgraduate programs ‘Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Resistant Structures’ and ‘Engineering Construction Management’ of the Hellenic Open University.
